    The three that matter

    A laptop can look perfect and still be finished.

    None of these show up in photographs, and none of them show up in a five-minute look around the shop.

    Battery

    “It lasts all day.”

    A battery reports two numbers: what it was designed to hold, and what it actually holds now. The gap between them is the wear, and at 40% you are buying a laptop that lives on the charger.

    Zyv-Scan reads both, plus the cycle count.
    Storage

    “Fresh Windows install.”

    A fresh install hides everything except SMART, which the drive keeps itself: hours powered on, reallocated sectors, pending sectors. A disk with a growing reallocation count is a disk on its way out.

    Thermals

    “Runs cool and quiet.”

    Idle on a shop counter, everything runs cool. Dried paste and a clogged fan only show up under load, when the CPU quietly drops its clock to survive — and you lose a third of the speed you paid for.

    The throttle test

    It reads the clock,
    loads every core,
    then reads it again.

    Ten seconds of full load on every thread. Zyv-Scan takes the CPU frequency before and after, and reports the difference as a percentage. Above about ten percent and the machine is throttling — the cooling cannot keep up, and no amount of specification sheet will fix it.

    On Linux it uses stress-ng; on Windows it saturates the cores from PowerShell. Either way the number at the end is measured, not estimated.

    What the laptop remembers about its last owner.

    When the operating system was installed. How many user accounts exist. The last ten logins. How many times it has been rebooted. The BIOS release date and the manufacture date on the board.

    A machine wiped an hour before you arrived looks brand new on the surface and says so in these numbers. It is the difference between a careful owner and a cover-up.

    It reports in the language you actually think in.

    A wall of lscpu output helps nobody standing in a shop. Zyv-Scan reads the raw data and then explains it — in English, Urdu, Hindi, or the Roman Urdu most people actually type. Ask it whether the battery is worth replacing and it will answer that, not recite a specification.

    It finishes with one number: a health rating out of ten, and the reasons behind it.

    Zyv-scan does not spend credits and never will. It runs entirely on your own machine — the hardware readings never leave it, and only a short summary is sent when you ask the assistant a question.

    Debian, Ubuntu and Mint take the .deb directly. The Windows build is portable for now — unzip it anywhere and run ZYV SCAN.exe, no installer needed.

    Some of the deeper readings — SMART, RAM slots, BIOS — need an administrator password, because the operating system will not hand them to an ordinary program. Skip it and the rest still works.

    Does anything leave my computer?

    The hardware readings do not. They are collected and displayed locally. When you ask the assistant a question, a shortened summary of the readings is sent so it can answer — that is the only thing that goes out, and only when you type something.

    Why does it want my password?

    Disk SMART data, RAM slot details and BIOS information are only readable as an administrator — that is the operating system protecting you, not the app being nosy. You can skip it entirely; CPU, memory, battery, GPU, display, network and the stress test all still work without it.

    Will it work on a Mac?

    Not yet. Zyv-Scan reads hardware through Linux and Windows system tools, and macOS exposes different ones. Linux and Windows builds are what exist today.

    Is the stress test safe to run?

    Yes. It is ten seconds of ordinary full load — the same thing that happens when you compile something or export a video. If a laptop cannot survive ten seconds of that, you have found exactly what you were looking for.

    Does it need credits?

    No. Zyv-scan is free and does not touch your Zyvavo balance. It does not even need an account.

    Can it tell me what a fair price is?

    It will not quote you a number — prices depend on your city and the day. It gives you the condition honestly, including a rating out of ten and the reasons, so you are negotiating with facts instead of a stranger's description.
